Woman UP! and Make History During Women’s History Month

The idea of “making history” can feel daunting and overwhelming. It’s true that we’re not all going down in history like Rosa Parks or Billie Jean King, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make our own history.

I talk a lot about creating a “professional legacy,” and how you always want to make an impact and leave a place better than you found it. That’s how you make history…by making a difference in your world, in your workplace, in your life and in the lives of those around you.

March is Women’s History Month and March 8th is International Women’s Day…a global day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women throughout the world. It’s about honoring the women who have, and who continue to, make history.

Across industries, countries, and companies, we know that more female leadership leads to stronger, healthier, and more profitable organizations. Women have a positive impact on culture, productivity, results, relationships, collaboration, teamwork, motivating and developing others, spearheading change and innovation, taking initiative, establishing stretch goals, and practicing self-development and personal growth.

It’s time to Woman UP! and add your name to the list with these history-making suggestions.

Run for Political Office

Politics isn’t for everyone, but it does impact all of us. It is a platform and a forum like no other at every level. If you have innovative ideas or don’t like the direction your kid’s school or professional association is going, think about running for office with the PTO, city council, board committee or Congress.

Take Action

See something, do something. Whether it’s leading the charge to improve hiring practices or diversity and inclusion initiatives within your office, starting a new resource group, spearheading a community outreach project, solving a significant problem, or offering to mentor another woman in need of your wisdom…to make history you need to take action.

Invest in Yourself

Making history is also about making yourself better. The more informed, prepared, relevant, connected, inspired and confident YOU are, the better equipped you’ll be to tackle complex challenges, take bigger risks and bust through barriers and roadblocks. How? With the perfect leadership development experience… Women ON Point: Next Level Leadership
